  1. We conside 100 g of this  solution

    Moles water = 40 g / 18 = 2.22

    Moles CH3CH2OH = 35 g / 46 g/mol = 0.76

    Moles CH3COOH = 25 g / 60 g/mol = 0.42

    Total moles = 3.4

    mole fraction water = 2.22 / 3.4 = 0.65

    mole fraction CH3CH2OH = 0.76 / 3.4 =  0.22

    mole fraction CH3COOH = 0.42 / 3.4 = 0.12

  2. I assume that you mean mass %.

If you have 100 g of solution, then based on the percentages given, there are 40 g of water, 35 g of ethanol, and 25 g of acetic acid.

    40 g water x (1 mole water / 18.0 g water) = 2.22 moles water

    35 g ethanol x (1 mole ethanol / 46.0 g ethanol) = 0.761 moles ethanol

    25 g acetic acid x (1 mole acetic acid / 60.0 g acetic acid) = 0.417 moles acetic acid

    Total moles = 2.22 + 0.761 + 0.417 = 3.40 moles

    mole fraction water = (2.22 / 3.40) = 0.653

    mole fraction ethanol = (0.761 / 3.40) = 0.224

    mole fraction acetic acid = (0.417 / 3.40) = 0.123
