  1. That will depend on how you define "most advanced".  There's some truly surprising robots coming out of Japan, some that are even able to act as office receptionists.  However, they're *only* able to deal with a certain subset of receptionist tasks - if you ask them if Mr. Smith is in, they can say "Yes, I'll page him", but if you try to make small talk with them while Mr Smith is coming out to meet you, they're in way over their head.

    On the other hand, there's some recent work out of IBM that claims to be able to do actual reasoning and draw conclusions about things at the level of a 4-year-old child.
