What is the most appropriate type/brand of pen/paint should i use?

what is the most appropriate type/brand of pen/paint/ink to use when i'm doing my own custom design on canvas cloth (backpack material) and metal? good quality at a good price please.i'm almost broke. don't mention any permanent markers or sharpies.

My French teacher was  a painter too. In India we were a lot in those days lacking in material resources and money. He has painted all his painting on canvas and large hard boards with the size of  8' x  4' . He used large tins of acrylic plastic emulsion paints used for walls and doors. The paintings have survived for now more than 40 years and are still in very good conditions. His wife has made even a video and put up someof the paintings even on web , [e-mail] , and www.motherland-guharoy.net .

I think this will be cheap and good and satifactory to your tailor needs.
