They've been saying that ever since 9/11 and The Patriot Act, and if they're still saying that about America non-relative to the same thing, that means something else makes people think this.

Look! Our economy is deteriorating, and people are voting based on popularity. Poor economic conditions have been known to bring the wrong people into power, the ones good with words, but always with ulterior motives.
