What is the most beautiful Railway viaduct?

Viaducts are beautiful in themselves and as part of a landscape.You can often get a beautiful view from a viaduct.

Here in Mexico we've got the Copper Canyon railway which goes along the The Sierra Tarahumara in the southwestern part of the State of Chihuahua.

How about the Landwasser Viaduct on the Rheatian Railway in Switzerland?

The train emerges from a tunnel in the sheer rock face about 100 feet up onto the viaduct which then curves through 90 degrees. All amid breathtaking mountain scenery.

I'd include my personal favourite, Midford on the former Somerset & Dorset Railway in England. Unfortunately the line closed in 1966, though amazingly the viaduct is still there.

Glenfinnan takes some beating - it is constructed on a curve high above the River Finnan.

(Incidentally, it features in a number of Harry Potter films)

Dollis Valley viaduct, West Finchley. Google it and see.

Ribblehead is set in spectacular scenery, however either Bewdley viaduct on the Severn Valley Railway or the two over Swithland Reservouir on the Great Central Railway are amongst the best examples on a preserved line.  They're easier to access too!

The Ouse Valley Viaduct in Sussex between Balcombe and Haywards Heath.

Brooksbottom viaduct on the East Lancashire Railway isn't very high or very long....but it fits into the landscape beautifully.

Straight out of Summerseat station with it's stone Victorian goods shed(now converted to apartments.....who'd like to be woken at 8am on a Sunday morning with a locomotive working up grade just feet from your bedroom window?).

And onto Brooksbottom viaduct...views to the left of stone terraced houses and the beginnings of the west pennine moors,and to the right the old Victorian stone mill nestling in the wooded valley with the river running right under the mill itself.

Then diving into Brooksbottom tunnel still accelerating.

Steam or diesel.......the sound while crossing the viaduct with it echoing around the valley is superb.

I second Glenfinnan on the west highland line. There are cracking views from the viaduct over the Jacobite memorial.

And you can go over it on a steam train!
