What is the most beautiful town/city/beach on the Spanish Costa del Sol?

The only large city on the Costa del Sol is Málaga itself. A nice city, but not the most fantastic, for those you should go inland to Granada, Córdoba or Seville.

As to beautiful towns. Marbella is one of the loveliest on the western coastal area, it has some of the best beaches on the coast especially in the area of Pinomar between the Hotel Don Carlos and the Hotel Marbella Playa. On the other side of Málaga you have Nerja on the eastern coast, but it is much smaller, and I frankly found the beaches less to my liking. (I suppose it's a question of taste). The eastern coast of Málaga is wilder and less developed, the western one almost overdeveloped... But there are still many wonderful beaches on both sides....

If you want attractions, there are: a zoo (in Fuengirola), SELWO Safari Park (in Estepona), Selwo Marina and Sea World (in Benalmádena) TIVOLI Amusement Park (in Arroyo de la Miel-Benalmádena). There are 3 Waterparks... in Fuengirola, Torremolinos and Vélez Málaga. Málaga has museums (the Picasso Museum is excellent), Gibralfaro castle, a lovely port area; and there is  a nice pedestrian area in the center of the city. Worth a visit definitely.

Nerja is a beautiful town by the sea on the eastern end of the Costa Del Sol. The town still retains the charm of a typical Andalucian town. The beaches are fantastic and safe for bathing. There are certain parts that are excellent for scuba diving. The scenery and the backdrop of the coastal mountains is stunning. I'm fortunate that I live close by.

Edit;  Today I had coffee on the beach at El Palo. That is a small suburb of Málaga. We then went to Benajarafe further east of Málaga. The beach was huge, clean and uncrowded. The beach restaurant was great and the weather was fantastico. Why worry about where the best town / city or beach is, just come and explore and have a super holiday.
