  1. That will vary according  to the size of the house and the number of interior walls.

See the following page on wood framing for more info:

    Hope this helps.

  2. take your perimeter of the house x 1.2. That will give you a close number for the wall studs alone.  You'll need more for the ceiling, interior walls, etc.

Pretty hard to answer with so little info.

  3. If you are framing 16" On Center, figure 1 stud for each linear foot of wall and add one for each door and window opening, one for each corner.  This should get you very close.  The interior walls need to be figured the same way.....minus the window openings.  You will need to add long 2X4 for your top, bottom and second top plate.  If you figure out you lengths, you can order them in the sizes that you need.

  4. Here is how I do all my take offs for additions, new homes.

    3 studs for each corner

    3 studs for each lead

2 studs at the sides of door, windows

2 layers flat 2" x for double sills under windows

take total lineal feet of wall x .75 which will give you number of studs

Take 3 x perimeter wall footage, take that time 1.25 to get lineal foot for top, this includes footage for waste.

You can do the math !

  5. noone can answer that question without having looked at the floor plan.   that's why  you should never  be your own "contractor" !!!!

  6. It depends on the size of the house, how many rooms, ceiling heights, roof lines, etc.  There's no way to accurately answer your question.

  7. thats a tough question
