What is the most cost-efficient way to ship via Amazon?

I recently started selling books and CDs on Amazon Marketplace. I know that the buyer pays an additional $4 for standard shipping and $7 for expedited. But I find that when I buy packaging for the item, and then ship it, I exceed that payment. How can I package and ship items as cheaply as possible so that I stay at or beneath the $4/$7?

ship it media mail at the post officeits a lot cheaper i do the same thing. books, movies, games, cds, computer hardware. they can all be shipped like that. sometimes if the package is really light its cheaper to ship it firstclass. ask at the post office they will help you. stay away from ups and fed ex
