  1. avoidance. noone can kill me or kick my **** if they can't find me.

the art is not as important as how good you are at it, and how well you understand it. but..some arts are better than others at certain things.

stay away from sport arts like brazilian jujutsu, judo, boxing, kickboxing. they are sports and will probably get you beat up or killed in a real serious street fight that is unpredictable. you do need to learn grappling just in case...but train with self defense in mind if thats your goal...dont pull guard on someone who may have a hidden knife....or who isnt alone...its suicide. the point is..you dont know.

you need to consider those things rather than ignore them like sportive arts tend to do. h**l...i want you to pull me into your guard so i can bite you and stab you and attack your groin and whats more...you cant escape because ironically, thats where you want to be too...the difference is that i dont care about your rules or fighting fair. and the bottom line is 99% of people who practice sport arts are too used to the rules, and cant fathom the idea that i wont follow them. theyre just not accustomed to dealing with people like me or people who will actually attack them in the street...it isnt going to be a karate teacher, a pro boxer or mma fighter, or a bjj expert.

sure in a fair fight in their specialty...they'll destroy me and i'll gladly admit it. but Hock Hockheim said once that in the army they had a saying "if you find yourself in a fair fight, you didnt prepare well enough"

one on one in a "fair" fight...with no weapons or anything, and plenty of rules...these arts will serve you well.

in a real fight for your life on the street where there are no rules, and you're not in a weight class, and there may be multiple attackers, knives, guns, clubs ..etc...it's best to stick to a modern self defense art that takes these things into consideration. krav maga, jeet kune do, some kempo styles...updated for today and that get to the point. what good is self defenes 3 or 4 years from now? you need it now.

there are no secret deadly techniques, there are no secret sects of people who teach the most deadly art that noone else knows.

if someone tells you their art is based on anything but simple human anatomy and body mechanics...leave.

every art has their place, and every art has strengths and weaknesses.

in the ring, muay thai is the king. in the cage mma is king. in the street military/police/self defense arts are king. on the ground sambo or bjj is king (in a fair fight) in a boxing match, it will do you no good to be a master of jujutsu. each art has its element and focus. so you have to ask yourself what you are going to be using your art for.

alot of arts, even traditional arts, and mma are fighting arts. not really self defense arts. many of them sort of assume that you are agreeing to fight someone. that you both already have your weaons drawn, or your hands up in a fighting position. even arts as reknowned as eskrima and kali assume this....really...when are you ever going to see two people dueling with knives? lol  even alot of jeet kune do people do this.

in karate class or any other class you conveniently (usually) start from a fighting stance.

in a self defense situation, you may be sitting at the bar or something, you may be eating, swimming, or whatever. the only thing i guarantee you wont be doing is standing there facing your attackers in a fighting stance. or wearing gloves.

if you try to block like a boxer on the street you just might get a broken hand for your efforts. especially if there's hidden weapon or something.

the point is, your question is vague.

the most dangerous stand up art might be muay thai in a sportive situation, in its element. the most dangerous grappling art might be bjj or sambo in their element. the best mid range art might be wrestling. the best way to throw someone might be judo or jujutsu.

so as i've said countless times, to me, it is much more important HOW you train, and what your focus is. it isnt so much important what art you study. bjj can be easily adapted for street use on the ground if you keep in mind you may be facing hidden weapons, biting, eye gouging, or multiple attackers. you have to put yourself in those kinds of situations as much as possible.

i know a guy who teaches both self defense, and mma. when his mma guys try armbars in self defense class they get bit. but that isnt to say you cant do that on the street...rather than put your leg over his head and applying the lock slowly so he can "tap out" ....cram your foot in the side of his neck and push his head away and just snap it. (obviously in practice)

    my opinion/rant.

  2. ummm kenpo karete, bjj, are muay thai

  3. Kyudo is so dangerous that it can not be practiced against another human.  It could easily kill Bruce Lee.  Only a fool would take on a kyudo master and expect to live.  A kyudo strike doesn't even have to make contact with the face to be fatal.  Any abdominal hit could mean your funeral.

Kyudo is a banned technique in MMA.

  4. I am in agreement with Revan, although it is a very common question from people who don't understand the concept of martial arts. Don't feel bad. Ignorance is not the same as stupidity. You simply just didn't know.

There is no best or ultimate martial art for every situation. Everything depends on the skill and experience of the practitioner and of course, his/her opponent(s).

  5. They are all dangerous...

That's what the "MARTIAL" bit is all about!

They are especially dangerous to the practitioner if s/he does not do them properly!

  6. All martial arts can be dangerous! I'd say the martial art with the most injuries to the opponent and yourself is muay thai. Less protective gear is used and of course it is full contact!

  7. There is no "Superior or more Dangerous Martial Art". If you want a martial art to be Dangerous, you just have to be good at it. Simple. Good luck in the one you Choose.

  8. That original old Muy Thi! It's meant to kill! It all depends. Shaolin has crazy stuff going on. In my opinion a dangerous Martial Art is the a fake one. The reason why is because if you don't perform it right you'll hurt your self instead of the opponent in a fight.

  9. Martial arts isnt supposed too be dangerous its supposed too teach respect and sometimes how too defend yourself in violent situations it isnt supposed 2 be used for dangerous stuff like that. im only 13 years old and i know that!

  10. krav maga!!!!!! it has no rules!!!!!!! its killer!!!!! even in practice, if you make a mistake, you can get seriously injured. once you lay on the ground, consider yourself dead unless your lucky to escape.

  11. It is not the art nor any specific art that is dangerous but the person who is using it.

    Example:

If I were to lay a gun on the ground it harms no one. In inexpericenced hands it is possible to do harm. In the hands of an expert shooter...well, you get the picture.

  12. Military sniper.  Because one man with a high-powered rifle can keep an entire company pinned down  from a mile away.

What those guys do is definitely an art.  Or even a jet fighter ace.

You didn't specify what kind of martial art, so I'm simply extrapolating.

kempo is correct in his rant, and he's definitely correct about your question being vague.

  13. This is a stupid question (sorry if this is blunt). Dude martial is in the name. Every martial art on the planet was made in some shape or fashion to defend yourself against attackers, or let you attack others (which you should never do). This is true for every martial art. This being true, this makes any martial art dangerous, because it was or is designed to hurt somebody.

The above statement that I just gave is only true on one main fact. The practioner of the martial art must know how to use it effectivley. What I am trying to say that, all martial arts are dangerous and should be taken seriously, but what really matters is the person using it. Any martial art can be very dangerous if the person uses it effectively.

  14. They all have their advantages. I truly think that it comes down to your body type. In other words BJJ may work better than muy thi for some people and the other way around.....
