What is the most direct route to Beijing from Detroit?

In what direction (relative to straight down) would I drill through the Earth to get from Detroit (42º N, 83º W) to Beijing (40º N, 116º E)?

I'm too lazy to do the exact math right now, but I'm not sure if you'd go deep enough in the mantle to melt.  I know you would angle the hole way north of straight down.  Being at practically the same latitude, 161 longitudinal degrees apart, that would be pretty straight through, but at roughly a 45 degree angle to stay at the same latitude (I'm estimating).
