Question:

What is the most ecological washing powder?

I live in a hard water area in the UK.

Tesco do one that's cheaper than Ecover, but I don't know if it is as ecologically sound.

I've been using one called Simply active Eco-Smart from simplywashing.com but again don't know how environmentally friendly that really is. The packaging says they are the 1st UK washing detergent to be awarded the EU eco-label which sounds good but....? And it comes in a plastic tub but we don't have plastic recycling in my area. Although a few of the tubs are handy, I can only use so many...

Obviously I'd like to spend as little as possible, providing it's not at the cost of the environment.

Oh - and I have messy kids too, so it does need to work!

  1. Bold :)

  2. The Eco-Smart one you're using is the only 'eco' one I've found to really work well. The eco-label scheme is genuine and approved by Defra, so I'm happy with that. I wouldn't trust Tesco to do anything that isn't designed to line their pockets.

The plastic pots stack easily, so just keep them until you're next passing your local tip, where there should be a plastics recycling bin (or even bac at the supermarket)
