Question:

What is the most economical way to transport a 14' Kayak using a Chevy S-10?

I need to something that I can load and unload myself and something that is not too pricey. Any advice is welcome.

  1. More info would be helpful.

    Do you have a cap on your chevy?

    How heavey is the kayak?

    I would suggest buying two foam cradles (fit to the underside of your kayak).

    Then open the tailgate of your S-10 and put the kayak in the truck bed, resting on the foams.

    You will also have to buy some rope or straps to strap it in.

    Then, stick a red flag on the end of the kayak where it hangs off the back of your truck.

    We did this when we had single kayaks and it was so easy to load and unload as the kayak was not on the top of the truck. Easy for one person to load/unload on their own.
