I have heard good things about bacopa (brahmi) and ginseng... any pure and high-quality supplement that combines these or other important ingredients?

  1. This is my personal experience, from which I've helped numerous clients. Rather than add a supplement, you need to add water and detract stress.

You will experience short-term results, at best, without a few lifestyle changes. Memory relates to two main things: Dehydration and emotional stress. Drink more water in the early morning hours (people are dehydrated by the time thirst hits) and cut out caffeine and alcohol (dehydrators), and take steps to rule out emotional stress (poor memory is often secondary to anger over injustice or unfairness). I'm assuming you're already sleeping well and observing common sense health measures.

  2. - Ginkgo Biloba 60mg per day, scientifically proven to improve memory and cocentration in vigorous Randomised Control clinical Trials, as documented on the BBC Alternative Medicine - Herbs Documentary aired in 2006 by a professor of Medicine at the University of Bristol {one of the best in the World}.

    - Omega 3 - As some have aleady mentioned, take 1000mg-2000mg per day, with meals, strictly Nordic Nautrals or Carlson's brand, these are pharmaceutical grade, and need to be refrigerated, unlike other brands. Omega 3 makes the ion channels in the brain more flexible, and is a fat that makes up much of the dry weight of the brain, quite literally brain food. An alternative to supplementation is to consume 3 portions of oily fish, like Salmon, organic, per week, no more since mercury levels will accumulate in your body, and this is a health risk in itself, the supplement brands reccommended are molecularly distilled and free from mercury, PCB's, and is pure.

    - 30minutes of vigorous exercise per day has a dramatic effect on cognition, problem solving and alertness. Do some tai chi, yoga, swimming or jogging in the morning.

    - Coenzye Q10 - 30mg per day, improves memory

    - B Vitamin Complex - Coenzymes that catalyse/speed up reactions in the body, and brain. Dose: As reccommeded on the label.

    - Acetyl-L-Carnithine - improves alterness, mood, energy within 1-2 hours. 250mg -750mg per day

    - Herbs like Ginseng {as you stated}, maca & gotu kola.

    - Puzzles, crosswords, and other boring, I mean interesting pass times, like on the train/bus will exercise the right/left brain, thus improve memory or recall and concentration.

    Hope this helps.
