well now that's a very specific question....

An island that is incredible, almost impossible to believe... fabled. the stuff of myth and legend... There are not many islands that fit that bill but I would have to suggest NEW GUINEA.

Its the world's second largest island (after Greenland - Australia is considered too big to be an island - its a continent) and it is one of the last unchartered territories on the planet.

Some "fabulous" facts about NEW GUINEA:

- Although the 2nd largest island in the world, only 7 Million people live here

- 1073 languages spoken on the island (there are approximately 6000 languages in total)

- when Gold was discovered in NEW GUINEA it was literally found lying scattered around on the ground.

- there are people alive in New Guinea who used to be cannibals. the last cannibals were discovered in the 1970s

- there are at least 44 tribal groups in New Guinea who have never had contact with the outside world.

- there are great parts of New Guinea that have never been mapped

- between 5% and 10% of all species on the planet are in New Guinea although its less than 0.5% of the planet's total land mass

You should take a look at picture of Saint John which is a nice tropical island off of Saint Thomas (The U.S. Virgin Islands). I took a cruise there and a small excursion by boat to Trunk Bay on Saint John's. Trunk Bay is boasted to be number 4 in the 10 best beaches and world and has un underwater snorkeling museum of corals and has a neighboring beach holding on of the most luxiourious resorts its distance from the equator. If these don't appear to be as nise as described, try looking up Cabo San Lucas, known best as the honeymooners choice for it's many resorts on it's beautiful waters and was the setting for a most recent Ben Stiller film, The Heartbreak Kid. Between those two I am torn but I'd settle for either.
