What is the most famous and well known building in the world??

Since 9/11, it would probably be the World Trade Center.  (That is, if you include buildings that no longer exist.)

Most people would recognise Big Ben, so I would have to say The Houses of Parliament in London. After that The Statue of Liberty.

I would say the Pyramids at Giza.

They have been known all around the world for the longest period of time.  The only of the 7 wonders of the Ancient world that is still in existance today, I believe.

Given that religious and cultural buildings would not have the same significance throughout the world, my guess is The Pentagon.  Its size, its shape and its military significance (for good or ill depending upon your point of view) is likely to be right up there.

There isn't one. It's all dependent on where you live. In the Western hemisphere we tend to think of things like The Houses of Parliament, The White House, The Eiffel Tower or the Vatican and so on but remember that in the Eastern Bloc these buildings mean nothing as many people have never heard of them. In Russia it would be the Kremlin and in China Tianamen Square and as the population of China is more than anywhere else and that they are not allowed to see Western TV then I guess it's got to be Tianamen Square.
