  1. Specifically?

Well, Most recently the Delacourt theatre in Central Park Manhattan presented "Hamlet".  Last summer they presented "Romeo & Juliet" and the summer before "Macbeth".  In the US these are probably the most well known reprisals of Shakespeare because of their high-profile casts (Liev Schreiber as "Macbeth", Michael Stuhlbarg as "Hamlet", etc.)

Keep in mind that the first folio of Shakespeare's plays was published in 1623.  1623!  Almost four hundred years ago!  Since then there have been literally thousands upon thousands of remakes.  It would be impossible to pinpoint the most famous "one".

  2. Remake? Probably Julius Caeser, even though it's not the most popular.

  3. Off the top of my head, I am guessing Romeo and Juliet, followed by Hamlet, then The Taming of the Shrew.

  4. I think Romeo and Juliet.
