What is the most important environmental issue aside from global warming?

No doubt global warming is an important topic. But is that really the only serious environmental issue? What about clean air and water? Habitat loss? How come nobody talks about the destruction of the rain forest anymore, or the loss of endangered species? Unless we're going to change this to the "Global Warming" section, let's talk about something else. What do you think is the biggest environmental issue other than GW?

over use and misuse of anti-biotics, especially in the meat and poultry industry. This leads to disease like XDR-TB and MRSA. Next up would be polluting water.

The biggest issue is an issue I am putting on the table now:

Wresting control of environmental issues from the hands of politicians and big businesses. Then you will hear about and will be able to access all the environmental issues even when it isn't election time or when it isn't politically correct, or worst of all- when it isn't "newsworthy".

I am not joking or making a statement this is true, the corporate/political/special interests are totally controlling what we know and can do about our planet- wake up!

There are probably dozens if not hundreds of issues more important than the extremely over hyped Global Warming.

too many plastic bags,cups,utensils,styroplates used by fast food chains in asian countries that cause clogging and mountaineous garbage.

Thank you!  I'm so tired of reading day after day "It's real!" "No it's not!"  "Yes it is!"  "Idiot!"  "Moron!"  Sheesh!

There are so many issues.  What they all come down to is the impact of so many people living a lifestyle that consumes so many resources.  I think we need to find ways to reduce our numbers and our impact on the planet or there's very little hope for our long-term survival.  I hope we're smart enough to figure it out before it's too late.

Fresh water is right at the top of the list next to global warming when it comes to conservation.
