  1. IF YOU ARE BETTING IN THE UK THEN ITS ALWAYS THE GROUND AND WEITHER THE HORSE AS WON ON IT BEFORE. IF IN THE STATES THE CARNT HELP YOU SORRY.

  2. what distance the horse has won at

and what weight the horse carried when it won.

a horse is only as good as it's last win....

you might see a horse that 6 months ago

won a $62,000 claiming race, but 2 week ago

it was drop down and won for $32,000...now

they put the horse back up to $50,000 the chances are now you are dealing with a $32,000

claimer, don't get suck into that back class angle.

also trainers  that claim their horses back are always good bets, along with trainers that are 1/2 owners of the horses they train, not 100% owner but 50%..or trains for their wife.

  3. Aside from making sure that you have the correct date of publication, I would say that THE (you only wanted one choice)

most important info would be the Trainer. If its one of the top trainers at the track, he/she probably has entered the horse in a particular race to be competitive.

  4. Your bank statement.

  5. I always check to see how they did in their last race.  That way you can tell if they improved or fell off from thier previous races...if they showed in a couple previous races, then won their last race, i would expect them to be competing to win.

Kind of like boxing...if a guy did really well in his last fight, i would expect him to keep the momentum in his next one!
