What is the most important position in the NFL?

I've heard it is Left Tackle. Teams that have elite and top Left Tackles tend to fare much better then those trying to fill that hole. Teams with this position filled can win Super Bowls with less then stellar QB's (Dilfer/Johnson) Elite Left Tackles can open holes for mediocre Running Backs making them look great (Jamal Lewis, Browns). Since the game of football is a scoring game AND a field position battle the Left Tackle is part of the most important unit (O-Line) and since they often protect the QB's blind side they become the most important member of that unit.

What do you think?

  1. Controlling the line of scrimmage is the most crucial indicator of success in football. A good offensive line will protect the quarterback and give him time to throw. It will also lead to a successful running game. Having a good offensive line is especially important in short yardage situations, where you need a good push to get a first down or touchdown. On the flip side, having a good defensive line is also critical because it leads to slowing down the oppositions quarterback and running game and also stopping short yardage situations.

  2. an offsive line

  3. QB

  4. The owner,if the owner doesn't go out and get good players, the team is not going anywhere, you can talk about players till you're blue in the face, but they come and go,either becoming free agents or getting hurt and retiring, but the owner will still be there, and he has to replace any player that is gone

  5. The General Manager

He hires the coach and stocks the team with players through the draft , trades and other signings . He has to be a schewd judge of talent and has the final say on all football decisions .

  6. i think qb, then anywhere on the offensive line

  7. Offensive line....Left Tackle ur right....If u have no blocking u can't win. WHen i play Madden my Offensive line is 1st priority.

Jerry Jones the owner of the Cowboys played tackle at Arkensas with Jimmy Johnson and they won a National championship.

In the 90's he built the greatest offensive line in the history behind the Skins of the 80's ofcourse but he knows that u need a great line to win. Emmit and Aikman would not be in the HOF if it wasn't for the line they had.

  8. A good QB or as you said a eft tackle. A good left tackle is used to protect a right-handed QB. Also, a good center is also important.

  9. Punter.

  10. There are many important positions in the NFL, but I'd have to say someone on the defensive side of the field. It's proven that defense wins championships and no matter how good of a QB and LT you have, DEF will prevail. Look at the most recent one, NYG and their defense won it against Brady and his O-line. I think people like to see a better offense than defense so they value the offensive positions more, but when it comes to winning, it's the defense that matters.

  11. Offensive- center, tackles, and fullback

Deffense- ends, cornerbacks, linebackers (all 4 linbacker spots are about equal.)

  12. all of the offensive line without them th offense will never score and you will lose.

  13. Everyone forgets about the Long Snapper. Without a good long snapper, imagine bad snaps with every shotgun formation, field goal and punt. Would really ruin the day wouldn't it?

  14. mm QB you need a good QB any day.. and a good center and a good RB ..

  15. Every position is important. Left Tackles are important to protect a right handed qb's blind side. qb's are important because they lead the team by example. runningbacks are important because they help the team get 1st downs and open the passing game. wr are important because they take pressure off the qb and open the running game. te are important because they take pressure off of the wr and rb to open the up the field. lb are important because they control the running game. de are important because they pressure the qb and contain the outside running game. dt are important because the close the gaps for inside running. cornerbacks are important  cause the defend against the passing game. safeties are important because they defend against the passing game and take care of mistakes by their teammates to prevent instant td from opposing teams. the list can go on....
