What is the most important conservation/environmenta... group in the U.S.?

It at all depends on what you mean by most important.  The Nature Conservancy has the greatest financial resources and directly manages the most land.  The Sierra Club is the oldest environmental group and remains extremely influential.  Greenpeace (which I work for) probably has the highest name recognition.  The National Wildlife Federation has (I believe) the highest membership base among groups that work solely in the US (as opposed to internationally).  The Humane Society of the US is the largest animal welfare group in the country and also does conservation work as part of its mission.

In my opinion, the most important group is the one that gets you excited and helps you make a difference in your world.  Which group does that will vary widely from one person to the next.
