I need to do a science project on any organism in any of the kingdoms (plants, animals, fungi, bacteria, or protists). It needs to be interesting and preferably not an animal unless it is really unique. Please help!

  1. can you do a virus?  look up toxoplasmosa gondii.  there's nothing in the world more interesting than that..  in my opinion at least...

  2. Humans are pretty interesting

  3. You should do Deinococcus radiodurans, or D. radiodurans for short.  It's "the world's toughest bacteria" and can survive in many extreme environments, most interestingly those of extremely high radiation.  Scientists have found these bacteria growing in nuclear waste, that gives you some idea of how crazy they are.  You could research them online, there's plenty of info to be had.

  4. How about virus? People can't even decide if it's a real living thing or not...

  5. Algi in a fish tank.

  6. Water bears (tardigrades) are fascinating animals and they can be found anywhere, especially on damp moss.  They can live in many extreme environments and they can survive 150 years if they are dried out!

Here are a couple links and there is plenty more on the net.  Be sure to watch the videos.

  7. Phosphorescent Dinoflagellata (glow in the dark algae).

  8. do a platypus, it has a bill like ducks but it doesnt lay eggs.. i think.

  9. Hayden Panettiere

You might do the oilbird.  This is a bird that navigates using "sonar."  Rather unique, eh?
