My fiance and I are considering a cruise (transatlatic) for our honeymoon. Are there any ultra-luxurious ships anymore? Which is the best, which is the worst?

  1. just a thought...

if you are younger you might not like the more luxurious cruise ships (ie seaborns, crystals) because you will be the only ones under 50! (though this is in general)

  2. the most  luxuries is the queen mary 2. they do transatlantic but it is very expensive.

  3. my husband and i have gone on both caravinal and ncl ships, each has their own beauty to them. ncl ships very from ship to ship.some where so lovely you think you were in heaven and others were just as nice but the decorations were different. all that matters is that that two of you are together and having fun. each ship the food is different too. if the staff treats you nice on the ship and you get your moneys worth than it doesn't really matter.

  4. I have no idea which ship is the worst.  However, the best, for several years running is the Hapag Lloyd Cruises Europa.  Hapag Lloyd is a German based cruise line.

The other high scoring ships, per the Berlitz guide to cruising are:

    SeaDream I

    SeaDream II

    Seabourn Legend

    Seabourn Pride

    Seabourn Spirit

    Silver Shadow

    Silver Whisper

    Hanseatic

    Silver Cloud

    Silver Wind

    Queen Mary 2 Grill Class

    Sea Cloud II

    Sea Cloud

    Crystal Serenity

    Crystal Symphony

    Seven Seas Mariner

    Seven Seas Voyager

  5. Transatlantic cruise can get you stir crazy too.... lots of seas days. But for "mid-price" I would go for Holland America. Also, for transatlantic, they are basically repositioning cruises, and only available (to Europe) in April, and back from Europe in the fall...... more or less.

  6. Cunard cruise lines does regular Atlantic crossings and two of its ships, the Queen Mary 2 and the Queen Victoria  will provide the type of luxury you are looking for:  http://queenvictoria.cunard.co.uk/the-sh...

    and

Just stay away from Carnival and NCL and if you consider other lines like Celebrity or Princess, make sure that the cruise is oon one of their newer ships.
