  1. Coral snakes have the deadliest toxins. There are two species of coral snake in the United States. One  lives in the southeast USA and the other lives in the deserts of the southwest. Both are boldly patterned with red yellow and black stripes.

  2. This is sort of a catch.  The coral snakes have the deadliest toxins....          but have very small mouths and smaller fangs and actually have to chew for a moment (only a moment) in order to inject venom.  The amount of venom they inject is also very small.

On the other hand pit vipers such as Rattlesnakes have less toxic venom but inject LOADS of it, and they do so with a very sophisticated injection system which automatically injects the venom when they strike.  Thus a coral snake turns and bites you while a rattlesnake darts out and hits you while starting from further away.

  3. Emily is right if you were asking what snake is the most venomous. Snakes are not poisonous, you can safely eat them.

  4. Most poisonous snakes in the United States belong to the pit viper group. The pit viper has pits on its head, vertical pupils, a triangular head, slim neck, and a heavy body with a single row of scales on the underside of the tail. The pit viper group includes the major categories of copperhead and cottonmouth and two major categories of rattlesnake. All pit vipers may vibrate their tail sections rapidly to make noise when threatened.

  5. Rattle Snake
