What is the most popular and the most respected royal family??

It could be the Thai royalty, because his people still adore and admire him very much. People do wear yellow for him, and they still celebrate his birthday. He has a far better and more durable image than Thai govt. But he doesn't really get much international attention, does he?

The simplest answer would be Queen Elizabeth II of the UK.

The British royal family is perhaps the most popular royal family in the world and full of scandals, which is why people are always interested in them. The media could always get a good story out of one of their members, from Prince Philip and Princess Micheal of Kent's racist remarks, to Prince Charles' royal affair, to Prince Henry's alcoholic problems, just to mention a few.

The Japanese imperial family is probably the most respected royal family. The emperor of Japan has historically been regarded as being descended from gods. The Imperial family was always respected by its people, and since succeeding to the throne, Emperor Akihito has made an effort to bring the Imperial Family closer to the Japanese people.

The Spanish royal family are respected and popular, both in Spain and in the rest of Europe. The same goes for the royal families in Holland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Queen Elizabeth has respect, but appears a little too remote to love. Her grandsons are popular, though.

I hear that Queen Beatrix of the Nederlands is highly popular in her country, as was her mother Queen Juliana.

I certainly don't hear of talk about getting rid of the Dutch monarchy, as I regularly hear from britain and Belgium.

The Japanese Imperial family, and king Bhumibol of Thailand are also extremely respected, but I can't vouch for their being popular in any way resembling personal liking from the common people.

I would say the British, because they're the most well known. If you say "The Queen" almost anywhere in the world, people will know you're talking about the British queen. I wouldn't exactly say they're "respected", but they are popular.
