What is the most popular horse color to win the Kentucky Derby?

My source is from 2003, so you'll have to factor in the colors of the horses who have won since then.

Well, most races I've been to are won by bays.  I don't know why that is, but that's usually how it goes.  Cindy B did some research, so she should get best answer.  My dad used to be a jockey, and he said that "brown" horses are usually the winners.  He didn't say brown, but that's what he was talking about.  He has a photo album full of win pictures, and none of the horses are black, white, or gray.

I am not sure. One would have to do some research, but I would guess that it would be a brown or bay. I know not too many grays have won the Derby.  Are you asking which color has won the most or which color was best liked (popular) with the crowds.

May I add that Eight Belles was listed as a gray too but she had lots of black in her.
