  1. Hi.

For inner city riding the most practical bicycle is the folding bike. It is the most convenient because the wheels are smaller and a lot less cumbersome than the larger counterparts. You can turn and twist around any obstacle a lot faster. The wheels are not dammaged by hitting a hard curve as it would be with a speed bike, and it is easier to ride than a mountain bike. It feels a lot more natural because you don´t have to hunch forward but sit in a more upright position. Its also easier to get off of, although not as fast as a regular bicycle, but a lot more enoyable. My brother in NY bought one, and enjoys it a lot. I would ask any central bike shop in St. Pauls if they sell folding bikes, or you can order online. These are more popular in european cities.

  2. Hybrid bikes (cross between mtb and road bikes- similar shaped frames, but lighter and thinner tubes, thinner slicker tyre, and generally no suspension or only front suspension).

Hybrids are good, however i would personally just get a road bike, as they are purely designed for the roads, and are the fastest bikes on road, and require the least energy, as a higher percentage is transferred into the pedaling and moving the wheel.

Also the road bike is best for going out on a nice ride at the weekend!

Hope this helps, and remember only pick a bike that you like and feel comfortable to ride and most importantly safe!

  3. its doesnt really matter but if there were almost no hills i would say a singlespeed road bike

  4. Don't listen to Alex P. In large cities, bike messengers ride on Fixed gear road bikes.
