  1. Really the only limiting factor is your wallet.  A twin turbo or centrifugal supercharged small block or big block can be built to well over 1,000 h.p. on pump gas while maintaining fairly good drivability.  I've seen a couple twin turbo big blocks make close to 1,500 on pump gas.  There are also several headers made for a tall deck big block in a first gen. Camaro, so you could go as big as 632 c.i.  With a streetable cam and 10:1 compression, a naturally aspirated 632 will easily make 750 h.p.  Whether you do it with forced induction, nitrous, or plain old cubic inches, anywhere from 750-1200 is feasible on pump gas.  It just depends on how much you want and how much you want to spend.

  2. 396 427 454 Z06 with a 6spd

  3. You can use a 572, or anything smaller, with NOS, turbo, supercharger or a combination. You will have to work on the tranny and rear end to get any traction and to keep from breaking parts. How fast you go depends on how much money you want to spend.

  4. personally i would probably go with the 427. it would be a fit great ( it was a factory option) and if it is built right you could go with probably 450 or more horses. then theres aways a supercharcher.

  5. GM sells a 572 crate engine...its a factory size and all regular BB parts fit..look up GM parts on web

  6. That 572 at Summit cost $12,800 its 620 hp.  You can get 620 horses a lot cheaper.

  7. Use a 93.5+ supra engine, build it, and put a big turbo on it, easily above 1,000HP and plenty of room for it.  You didn't say it had to be domestic =)
