Well there is a Desert Eagle .50AE and a Smith&Wesson 500 a .475 Wildey magnum a 30-06 pistol but I think that .600 nitro revolver is probably the right answer.

I just went to the shooting range today and there was someone there with a desert eagle. it is not the wicked powerful gun that makes ppl go shitless when they shoot it as everyone makes it out to be although it does have ALOT of power behind it. .600 nitro express is the right answer

I think the MOST powerful pistol ever made was the Howdah Pistol, it's from the 18th and 19th century, but was quite a big pistol.   see wiki link, and follow the hyperlink to check out the bullet size!

The Pfeifer-Zeliska Revolver chambered in .600 Nitro Express Magnum.  

It is not mass produced but is the most powerful handgun ever produced at this point.
