What is the most powerful handgun in the world?

I know they made a Thompson Center that shoots a .600 Nitro round.  I dont think it gets much bigger than that.  In fact you can see what happens to the guy shooting it on youtube if your curious as to what shooting a .600 Nitro pistol would be like.

the .577 boxer is the most powerful round/caliber, handgun itself, id have to say the Guncrafter Industries .50GI. s***w the little desert eagle fanboys, they only like them because they see them in movies, they have the quality of a large pile of scrap metal. oh and sorry i saw the thompson center .600nitro after posting

There have been many powerful handguns in history. The 16th Century wheellock "horse pistol" was .70 caliber and had a stiff charge of black powder. It was made to shoot through knights' heavy plate armor and knock down their big draft horses that carried 400 lbs. of knight in armor. "Howdah pistols" were 2 or 4 barrel ones in .577 or .75. Webley made a .577 revolver, but it used a shorter .577 round than the howdah pistol did and was much less powerful. Supposedly, revolvers and single-shots ahve been made recently for .600 Nitro Express and .50 Browning Machinegun. Someone showed pictures of them here recently. Someone else showed a picture of a new .825 cartridge but no gun for it.

I'd have to give it to the Desert Eagle. I don't know about you, but i've seen what a .50 cal bullet can do.
