What is the most "generic" American name?

Question

I guess instead of generic I could have said "common" instead. For example, John Smith seems pretty common and generic and I personally know four people named David Lee. Any others?

Jacob is the top name for boys and Emily is the top name for girls in 2007.  In the 1970's, Michael and Jennifer were most popular.  Michael and Jessica were most popular in the 80's and 90's.

Michael seems to be most generic for today's adults, but girl's names are more varied throughout the decades.
