  1. Breast milk or whole (cow's) milk

    (organic, hormone-free preferrably)

From 1-2, they need the fat in whole milk for brain development.  Horizon makes a great one that has DHA.

Is she still taking a bottle?  If so, you could give her the milk in a sippy cup.

  2. Whole milk is the best if they are drinking cows milk. I was told to transition them part by part...start with say, 3 parts formula, 1 part milk and do that for 2-3 days. After that 2 parts formula, 2 parts milk, and so on

  3. Whole Milk

  4. i give her peadsure or the other milk

  5. Breastmilk is still the best milk for a one year old. If you are asking about bottled milk, either whole cows milk or goats milk is fine.

Transition slowly, either by mixing the milk with formula, or offering small, gradually increasing amounts in a cup.

Gavino:  Tell your  husband that babies are not adults, and they NEED fat for brain developments.  Adults can be on low-fat diets, toddlers cannot.

  6. I was told 2% at that age.

  7. Whole milk! Children need the extra fat in their diets. When they are 2 years old, that is when you need to switch them to 1-2% milk. (At least that is what my paediatrician told me to give our children. She also said that there is no need to worry about salt/fat/cholesterol/etc until the child is 2 yrs old).

  8. whole milk...not 2% or skim milk. at this age they need the fat from whole milk.

  9. At 13 months, doctors say give them whole milk.  In a cup with handles, not in a bottle.

  10. Drs and WIC want you to give them whole milk.

I would make a 4 oz bottle of formula and mix it with 4 oz of milk when I transitioned my children. Then I would give them milk in a cup.

  11. Whole milk has all the nutrients in it that they need at this age. My son turned one in May and that's when we were told to start him on it. So we did. For a while I couldn't get him to drink milk from a cup or a bottle. Eventually he lost interest in his formula too. So the dr. told me to stop trying milk and formula for about a week. After that week, introduce whole milk again in a sippy cup. (this was the opportunity to break him from the bottle, which we had already begun) So I did, and it worked great. He drinks two sippy cups of milk a day, and it wasn't hard on his tummy either. (I had been told it would be.)

  12. whole milk

18-22 oz a day, no more

I would mix with formula/breast milk

I used a Playtex straw insulated cup and my kids thought it was so fun drinkingfrom a straw they kept doing it.

  13. whole milk, which my husband is adamantly against because Americans get too much fat in their diets the way it is... why start him out on fatty milk?

  14. My naturalist friend gave her kids pasteurized goats milk instead of formula or whole milk, and they are very healthy kids
