  1. I am not sure what you mean when you refer to a curriculum being reliable?

Academically sound, factual/truthful in content; there are certainly many, however the only home school materials that have any meaning, or purpose for a home school family is what fits their children's learning style, and their budget.

  2. That which is customized to the student, his learning abilities and/or differences, learning styles, family situation, etc.

That which is done with parental involvement at the level appropriate to the student and age.  Never should it be unsupervised independent study due to a lack of accountability inherent in that process.

That which is stimulating, teaches a student to think and reason, and encourages a spirit of lifelong learning.

That which is reassessed at regular intervals to determine whether it is meeting the changing needs of each individual student as they progress.

  3. There is no such thing as "one size fits all."

    To continue the clothing metaphor...

If you pick a complete, predefined curriculum you will probably find that: the shoes are too tight, the pants too short, the shirt too tight, but maybe the hat looks and feels great, etc.

This is one among hundreds of reasons some parents choose homeschooling - so the curriculum can be chosen to fit the child rather than the child forced to fit the curriculum.

    So, to answer your question...

The most reliable homeschooling curriculum in the world is one that is thoughtfully chosen by the parents and children to deliver the greatest learning combined with maximum fun.

  4. The Robinson self teaching curriculum.

An Excellent K-12 Home School Curriculum

Developed by a scientist and his six children

  5. Seton is a great Catholic-based homeschool curriculum! It is one of the most respected and recognized homeschool curriculum by colleges all over the country! If you can get through Seton, you can get through anything. That is why if you get good grades in Seton, you will be sure to get into a great college. They give you a diploma and a fully accredited. 6. What do you mean by "reliable"?

  7. digital academy

  8. Abeka Book, it's hard, but it is definatly reliable

  9. There isn't one. Different curriculum fit different children. What works best for my son doesn't work for my daughter so we do different things for each of them. You have to find something that works for you.

  10. the one that works best for your student andyour family. If you cannot execute the lessons on a consistent basis and your child feels they are getting nothing out of it and won't do the assignments on a regular basis, then the education will not be "reliable"

You can pay literally thousands of dollars a year on a very shiny prepackaged curriculum and your student could get nothing out of it.

You could also spend nothing by utilizing your local library and the internet and have your child "graduate" from your homeschool with a top notch education that will prepare him/her for anything that follows.

Reliable is a relative terms, but it hinges on implementation and interest.

    IMO.
