Nothing to spendy but I need something serious that isnt going to break down in a couple years. No John Deere answers either there arent any servicers in the area and they have some junk residential zero turns.

  1. ferris-ferris-ferris

I have use this mower for 7 years at my job and never had any problems what-so-ever

they can be a little expensive but a d**n good mower

If you do buy one get the one with the Kawasaki's engine-

I know you migth want to buy USA motor but these motors are very quite and very long lasting and dependable

  2. I would first price out a commercial mower instead of a residential...if that's too much then go down.

I have a friend that has a Cub Cadet and he says it's decent.

Remember - it's not really about the name brand, but the componenets that make it work.

John Deere, Cub Cadet, Toro, Dixon, etc are mostly assemblers. It starts with the engine and then the transmission.

Do a little research on what histrocally is the best Engine, Transmission, etc. and then pick the assembler.

For example I perfer Kohler Engines and Sauer Sunstrand hydraulics.

  3. If you want a good mower buy a Kubota with a diesel engine.  The Kubota diesel is one of the best engines on the market, it is used by other brands such as Exmark and Bobcat.  I have a Kubota zero turn with their diesel engine in it and its an amazing machine.  If you have to mow 2-3 acres you don't want a huge gasoline engine or you're going to be filling up the tank in the middle of the mowing just to complete the job.  The diesel is much more efficient with fuel than the gasoline engine.   The mower itself is commercial and is pricey but you have a lot of land to mow and you don't want a cheap peace of junk mower.

You can't go wrong by buying the Kubota zero turn with their diesel engine.  Before you buy other mowers do some reaserach, look at all the mowers and then look at the Kubota  you will be amazed.

And as for the reliability, I have a Kubota tractor that is 18 years old and it runs great.  I've never had any problems with it.

  4. I have had a Ferris for ten years and other than changing the oil I have not done anything to it extremely reliable.  Ferris 61 inch with front suspension . friends have the toro and they seem reliable too.the gas engine is pretty efficient it has two gas tanks and I have 2.6 acres I can cut it two and a half times without refilling.some one else recommended a kabota , My neighbor has one and it is always in the shop it could be just his but who knows?

  5. The best i think is Exmark. They have the nices machines out there. Most buisnesses use Exmark Commercial mowers because they do the best and last forever!

  6. Id purchase something like an exmark quest or a small gravely zt.  Either are quality pieces.  They will run you in the 3500-4500 dollar range.  Both run big dual transmissions made by hydro gear here in the states.  Both will run air cooled Briggs ELS or Kohler Courage Pro engines.  You'll have a couple of deck options ranging from 44-60 inches.  They all have nice electric clutch systems and good warranties.  GOOD LUCK  and yes stay away from that JD junk.
