  1. If a bower bowls a no ball or wide then infinitely many runs can be conceded of a single ball. But on a right one can get maximum of 11 runs i.e.-- 5(helmet) + 6= 11

  2. Actually you can make an infinity amount of runs in ONE ball!!. The batsmen could hit a ball into the outfield and just run FOREVER!!. Yeah this would never happen!!, but its true lets say the ball was lost in the outfield??? the batsmen could run and run and run.

Theoretically the answer is 9 if the ball hits the helmet (5) behind the keeper then runs away for 4

    5+4=9 lol

  3. Theoretically if the bowler keeps bowling a 'no ball' then any  amount of runs could be scored from the one ball.

But for something concrete I'd go with the helmet answer.

However if your talking strictly about the Batsman, the most amount of runs a Batsman can make from one hit is 6 runs (this excludes the penalty runs mentioned above and in other answers). Often called a Maximum or 6.

  4. 3runs +6 runs by over throw =9

  5. KooKee's right (I seem to be saying that in all my answers recently) It is possible to score an infinite amount of runs off one ball.

The first ball of an 1893/94 match between Western Australia and Victoria was hit into the branches of a jarrah tree just inside the field of play. The ball was out of reach and so the home side appealed for "lost ball". The umpires however disagreed seeing as the ball wasn't lost because everybody could see exactly where it was.

The batsmen carried on running while the home side tried to find an axe to cut down the tree. They couldn't find an axe but instead brought out a shotgun and tried to blast the ball from the tree. After several misses, the ball was finally dislodged and fell onto the outfield.

Nobody thought to catch it. Therefore the batsmen claimed the 286 runs they had accumulated. The home side then declared their one-ball innings and went on to win the match. Brilliant! :)

  6. Kookie"s wrong but also right.

You can score an unlimited amount of runs through over throws -

HOWEVER....If the ball hits the helmet it is deemed to be dead

and it can not go to the boundary for 4.

You absolutely can not hit a helmet (or glasses or hat or any apparel counts) and then score 4 when the ball runs away to the boundary. Once the ball is deemed dead you get 5 runs plus any you have run before the ball hit the helmet.

  7. 9 runs max

  8. 9 runs.  The bartsman hit the ball, which deflect on the helmet kept behind the wicket keeper and cross over the boundary.  In this process the batsman get 4 runs for the boundary and 5 penalty turns for the ball deflecting on the helmet.

If the ball happens to be a No Ball, the batsman can get one more run, making the total runs as 10.

  9. i know how kinney feels, as i seem to say Kook's right alot lately as well, technically an infinate amount of runs can be scored off one ball, i recently read a book by max walker, who talked about being involved in a match where a bloke scored over 70 runs off one ball cos the ball landed in the coils of a poisonous snake! the ball was still in play and no one was game enough to touch the snake so the batsman just kept running (would have never happened to me, i'm stuffed enough after running two 3's in an over!)

  10. infinite

    but relaistically 11.

if ball hits helemt on full and goes for 6

    5(helemet) + 6 = 11(happy days)

  11. well there are no restrictions as such on number of runs, you can run as many if fielders keep over throwing,

but  a good ans would be six runs as i m assuming the bowler will not bowl a no ball and no silly business of helmet , overthrow etc etc are involved.

  12. You could run forever, but its nine as many have said.

Joel B, how is the ball going to deflect off a helmet just behind the keeper and carry for 6?
