I would stay away from American cars if you're looking for safety and reliability.  As for staying under $15,000, you can probably get a nice Honda or a used Toyota or something like that.  I had a Chevy Cavalier for 4 years and was terrified everytime I drove it that it was going to fall apart!

All cars are the same. if you hit a tree its going to do the same thing everytime no matter what car you get. You can spend a million dollars on a freaking car that they say will keep you safe no matter what but in the long run, if you hit a tree or get into a wreck, you just going to be pissed that you bought a million dollar car and have to pay to have it fixed. you freaking dumb ***.

Yeah, the Smart is really strong, but not very good looking (in my opinion) :P

I like large cars.

Volvos are always safe.

Smart car looks too small in my opinion.  If there was an accident there is really nothing to protect you from the impact, airbags and all aren't just the answer.

Look into Mazda3.  I have a 2005, best darn car I've ever bought.  My husband has bought 4 different Mazda's in the past 20 years.  Safe, reliable, well priced. Zoom Zoom!
