What is the area in payroll that requires the most attention?

In biweekly payroll what is the procedure if the salaried person quits on the second week for which he is accidentally paid ?

For me the most difficult part is the liabilities. I hate when we get orders to withhold. They are soo time consuming then it adds to the list of liabilities. Was the employee paid with a live check or direct deposit? Direct deposit you will need to ask the employee to reimburse the company. Live check you can void and reissue using correct pay out amounts. Figure out the hourly rate then pay them out for the exact amount of days basing it on an 8 hour day. Also remember to include the vacation pay as well.

You  could  also  report  these  as  wages  not  earned  to  the  Soc  Sec  office  if  employee does  not return  what  was paid.
