  1. Sam Langford had 130 KO's that is one shy of Archie Moore's

Here are some more outstanding records to consider anyone with over 200 wins is impressive to me:

    1. Young Stribling 256 (128) - 16 (1) - 15

    2. Willie Pep 229 (65) - 11 (6) - 1

    3. Ted (Kid) Lewis 228 (80) - 44 (5) - 23

    4. Maxie Rosenbloom 221 (19) - 42 (2) - 32

    5. Sam Langford 200 (130) - 47 (9) - 46

    6. Jack Britton 213 (30) - 52 (1) - 42

    Most losses?

    Reggie Strickland 66 (KO 14) -276 (KO 25) - 17

  2. Harry Greb Just fought a lot and had outstan ding stats.

In my opinion Sugar Ray's  his record was 128-1-2 with 84 knockouts.  While Robison only had 1 lost and 2 draws.

    Harry Greb's

    Record: Wins - 260

    Losses - 21

    Wins By KO - 48

  3. I don’t think we’ll ever know the answer to this one, but it’s got to be a fighter from boxing’s past.  Fighters were more active in the old days.

I’d like to see the record set straight about Muhammad Ali refusing to fight Teofilo Stevenson.  It was the other way around.  Promoters dangled $1 million in front of Stevenson to get him to fight Ali, but the Cuban refused to turn pro and take the match.

A friend of mine’s father worked in the advertising business in New York back in the 60’s and he did a lot of business with Sports Illustrated magazine.  When SI Staffers were asked about Ali “ducking” Stevenson, they laughed.  That “rumor” was intended to give a proposed Ali-Stevenson “match” credibility it didn’t deserve.

Stevenson was an accomplished amateur champion.  He was tall and had a strong left jab and potent right hand, but he was slow afoot and had little hand speed.  And he was an AMATEUR who fought three-round bouts.  He had over 300 bouts during his career and lost only about 20 of them, but he probably had a 10-1 edge in experience over most of his opponents.

If an Ali-Stevenson match had been arranged and it was anything other than a "hands-off" exhibition, Ali would have destroyed Stevenson.  Comparing an amateur to one of the most gifted professional champions of all time is something like comparing a club professional golfer to Tiger Woods.  They both play golf, but that’s as far as the comparison goes.

  4. Harry Greb has the most wins with 260. I could be wrong, but I think Archie Moore has the most career KO's with 131. I'm only 85-90% sure about Moore having the most knockouts.

  5. I know he's considered an amateur, but Teofilo Stevenson, of Cuba, had 310 wins in his 20+ year career.

His country wouldn't let him turn pro.  He was the only person Ali refused to fight.

  6. The wins part of the question is up for debate, Greb fought 299 times (and he was blind in one eye for most of them) winning 105. He also had 183 no decisions. Ray Robinson won 175, Archie Moore won 194. There is no clear cut fighter that stands out with most wins because a lot of fights back in the day were never recorded or the records lost.

Now as far as kayo's Moore holds the record with 141. Talk about a record! 194 wins with 141 kayo's! ouch!

My information comes from the International Boxing Hall of Fame, and The Ring record book and encyclopedia. Hope this helps.
