  1. I only began using the Pell grant a few years ago.  I have graduated with a Bachelor in Business Administration May 2007 and due to the job market I am researching this myself.  I am looking to change direction and get a Bachelor in Accounting as that is a much larger market in my area.  I don't know what the 'top-out' amount is for a pell grant.  Because the application asks what school(s) you are considering attending they use those schools tuition information when they set their scales (I was told by someone at the financial aid office but have no other verification of this).  That is why (again, I was told), that I had a lot of help when I completed my two year degree(junior college, cheaper tuition), close to nil on my third year (i transferred to a more expensive university after finishing at a junior college), and more help my fourth year when my information was re-configured.  I was TOLD that they go off of the tuition charges at the schools you list you are seeking and then base their offer from that (as well as the information regarding your personal income).  I hope to hear more information on this topic as I am considering re-entering the education world again myself.  Good luck.  And all else, there are student loans, that is how I completed my degree, and while the repayment schedule is quite long (ten years on average) the payments are very reasonable, delayed for six months after graduation so you have time to find a job, and offer a hotline (i have not used so i cannot state how helpful/not they are), but they offer a hotline to place occasional delays/stays without incurring additional interest due to items such as layoffs, not able to find work, family crisis, etc.  You cant find a bank that will offer you that consideration!

  3. Pell Grant awards are up to $4,731 per year. You must apply via the FAFSA and qualify for the grant each year you're in school.
