  1. Down Under.

  2. first of all your not using very good examples considering your referring to Texas and Florida's state motto's....do they even have a motto for America? we have names for each state in Australia... but as for the country as a whole, most call it the land down under. see Texas has 2 motto's, the one u mentioned and this one "dont mess with Texas" which is more of a slogan than a motto. (see link) http://austinist.com/2006/08/28/dont_mes...

  3. All Australian States have nicknames too.

Many can be found on motor vehicle licence plates.

This list isn't complete. I don't know the mottos for the other States and Territories.

    Queensland = The Sunshine State.

motto = "Beautiful one day. Perfect the next."

New South Wales = The Premier State or The First State.

Victoria = The Garden State or The Place To Be.

South Australia = The Festival State.

Western Australia = The Golden State or The State of Excitement.

Tasmania = Apple Isle or Holiday Isle.

    Northern Territory = Outback Australia.

Australian Capital Territory = Nation's Capital or Heart of the Nation.

  4. Down Under

  5. Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi!

Oz I guess, no one here says we live down under, except at karaoke nights

  6. Go home, Yank!

Just about fits on the plates, mate.

  7. the continent down under

  8. Nicknames/ Slang:Great Southern Land,The Land Down Under, Aus, Oz, Aussieland, The Lucky country, The Land of Plenty

Mottos:Waltzing Matilda, C'mon Aussie, C'mon; Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi,Great Southern Land.

  9. like others have mentioned, Down Under

    Aussie/ozzy

It has been known as "the attic of the world"

"The lucky country", as many like to call it"

"the land of plenty" like in the 'men at work' song.

Aussie, Aussie Aussie, oi! oi! oi! is one every aussie knows.

    Advance Australia fair, our anthem

not sure about any more, I'm sure the 'motto' differs from state to state.

  10. Very few Australians call the place Down Under.  Oz, maybe?

  11. former penal colony for the British.  the demise of the Aborigines.  home to midnight oil/ACDC.  it is the smallest Continent on the plant.  headquarters for FOSTERS=cold beer.  the commonwealth of the Aussies.  25S 135E.

  12. You will find that most Australians call home "Straya".  I have not once heard an Australian refer to themselves as being from down under.  Down Under is normally said by Americans, Brits, Canadians etc, in tandem with "throw another shrimp on the barbie" (it's a PRAWN btw) in a terrible imitation of an aussie accent.  The only time i utter the words "down under" is at karaoke.
