What is the movie, "The Fountain" about?

I just finished watching, "The Fountain" starring Hugh Jackman, and I have no idea what I just saw! I tried to figure out the plot, but I'm lost. I can't even figure out the significance of the film or if it had a point it was trying to get across. Does anyone know what this movie means?

That movie is horrible. I'm so mad that I actually bought it. I have no freakin' idea what it's about but every minute of it was like torture.

It's about love and overcoming death. It's very simple. A lot of people don't like this film because they don't understand it. But it really is just a story of Love.
