I am not talking about remakes, but about movies they keep making movies of... Like Indiana Jones, Rambo and Rocky, Terminator, etc.

Thank you!

  1. Many people here do not understand what a sequel is.

The most obvious approach is for the events of the second work to directly follow the events of the first, either picking up dangling plot threads or introducing a new conflict to drive the events of a second story. Because this is most common, there is no special term for it.

So films like the Bond Series and many others mentioned here would not count as a sequel but as you have your question worded, it would be the Bond series.

  2. Godzilla, he has the most sequels out of all. 28 of them, and some of them have nothing to do with one another, but it is Godzilla with the most movie sequels.

  3. Godzilla with 29 movies

    nothing else comes close

  4. probably star wars. i think its crappy but they've had alot

  5. harry potter X]

  6. Jason and Freddy Kruger Movies, theres like 7 or 8 apiece

  7. harry potter

  8. If you count James Bond films - I believe they win with 22.

Otherwise if you are talking about strict sequels it is Witchcraft with 13 sequels.

I'm sure theres probably some foreign series out there that may have spawned more though.

  9. James Bond 007

  10. batman, spiderman, and scream!!!!!!

  11. Land Before Time, Neverending Story, Die Hard, Mission Impossible, Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc.

  12. Yeah, probably Star Wars, Rambo and Die Hard. Theirs also (unfortunately) a lot of Lethal Weapon movies.

  13. two others i can think of r star wars, and back to the future

  14. star wars, harry potter

  15. I think either Rambo or Star Wars have the most? No wait! What about Rocky??

Good old Stallone just keeps popping them out doesn't he??!! haha

  16. land before time maybe... they made a lot of those. oh and star wars

  17. Best guess is the 1954 movie Gojira (Godzilla) which spawned 28 sequels including the American remake.

If you include TV shows then "The Menagerie" staring Jeffrey Hunter (the pilot film that became Star Trek) probably wins.

The James Bond films certainly are in the running, as are a slew of Sherlock Holmes movies, although I am not sure I would say these are sequels in the strict sense of the word.

  18. Technically Bond films. Also Halloween and Police Academy have quite a few sequels.

  19. Arguably, James Bond - they're up to 22 now with Quantum of Solace

  20. Many people say Godzilla but that is not technically the case the winner is the world's most famous spy.

James Bond from Dr. No to Die Another Day Bond was depicted in 20 films made up of one series all sequels of Dr. No. The new Bond films are reboots (start overs) so they do not count  and "Never Say Never Again" is just a remake of Thunderball so even with three exceptions James Bond tops out as the 20 films are indeed true sequels. You have references in the films to other Bond adventures and Bond's marriage and recurring characters such as Q, M (who changes due to appointment), Moneypenny  and two recurring villains one of which becomes a friend.

Bond has had one constant foe during these films SPECTER a shadowy terrorist group and the films are about his constant unfoiling of their plans it's not until the middle in the series that he meets Blofeld the leader of the group and kills him off six movies later. Most all of the classic Bond villans such as Goldfinger, Dr. No, Hugo Drax, etc were all members of SPECTER. Blofeld was the inspiration for Dr. Evil and Irma Bunt (Blofeld's right hand woman) was the inspiration for Frau on Austin Powers.

There are 13 Land Before Time films but only the original in 1988 was a movie made for theaters the rest are direct to video.

Sherlock Holmes tops out the dinosaurs with 14 films starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce the first The Hound of the Baskervilles took Holmes from the Victorian era to the 1940's and was a smash hit so more films were made and in some of them Holmes took on the n***s.

Holmes is one of the most depicted fictional characters in film having uncountable films made of his exploits.

Godzilla has 14 films under the original series run called the Showa Era. All Godzilla films other than these 14 are not direct sequels. He has also made guest appearances on other Japanese sci-fi films.

Next up is Friday the 13th of which there are 10 films one spin off (Freddy VS Jason) and a new film which will be a remake of the original.  There have been 7 Halloween films and one remake.

Other notable films that have gone on seemingly forever besides the ones you already mentioned are..

Highlander 5 films, 3 tv series, 1 anime film, sixth film rumored

Dracula 5 sequels made by Universal in the 1930's and too many films made about the character (rumor has it a new one is being made). Universal made 3 Frankenstein films.

  21. Ha probably Police Academy (its from the 80's)

Or Batman, there have been a lot of sequels

  22. Godzilla

Since 1954, there have been 28 Godzilla films produced by Toho Studios in Japan, with the US film bringing the total to 29.

  23. I think Jaws or Die Hard

  24. The Skulls

    The Butterfly Effect

    White Noise

    Cruel Intentions

    American Psycho

    Species

    Star Wars

    James Bond

    Harry Potter

    JAWS

    Die Hard

    Mission impossible

    Scream

    Batman

    Spiderman

    Rambo

    Rocky

    High School Musical

    Terminator

    Blahh the list goes on.

  25. Land Before Time has about 13 different films i think
