  1. Probably around 24-33 MPG (U.S. Gallon). I know fuel is more expensive over there (I don't know why the public puts up with it). But if you can't mange to afford to keep an econobox on the road. (such as the guy who claimed that 30 MPG was too expensive?!?!) Then you need to reconsider your finances.

  2. Fuel consumption isn't very good, someone else had the same model, only got 30-35mpg, and worse on short journeys. See below for the person with that car, and what car reviews for that model and a couple of others.

  3. This is a very difficult question to answer as so many things have to be taken into account.  Type of conditions, type of driving, number of passengers, hilly or flat type of roads, heavy or light traffic.

So expect anywhere between 25 and 40 to the gallon.  I have a focus 1.6 automatic and live in Spain.  The MPG  can vary between 24-- 42 depending on what we are doing.

  4. We had a 01 focus saloon 1.6 and on average we only got 30mpg. However we did see 50 mpg on one long journey. We didnt keep the car for long because we only did short trips and 30mpg was too expensive. I cant imagine the 1.8 being any worse, cos the local ford mechanic said my model suffered from heavy fuel consumption. Now we have a 01 406 and never see less then 50mpg and 59mpg on long trips.

  5. dont you mean 2000? ford didn't start the focus until 2000.

according to this website...the focus only came with a 2 Litre 4 banger rated for 26mpg in the city and 33 on the hwy

  6. I ran a 1998 1.8 focus petrol and if just used for local trips i was only getting 21 mpg but on a decent run i was getting 45+ mpg.
