  1. I always break down multiplication problems in my head. Like if its 11 x 82, I will think, okay if it were 10 x 83, thats easy...830. Take the second number, 83, and add a zero. Then you would just add one more "83" to 830 and get your answer. So your math problem will be just figuring out what is 830 plus 83....913.

Another trick is using a calculator :)

  2. The 11 * 24 trick works if the sum the of two numbers are greater than 9. What happens is you get a roll over into the hundreds place.

    67 * 11 = 737

    87 * 11 = 957

    99 * 11 = 1089

Just use a little common sense. Sometimes you just have to interpret the patterns on your own to understand them. Being taught word for word can get confusing, and may slow down your calculations more to think them over. Instead memorize the patterns in a way you understand so that you may use these tricks on your own. Practice self education by expanding the concept I started with on and looking at how the third problem worked out.
