Their families fought for generations over something that, over time, lost all significance (land, I think) , and built a wall to separate themselves. One day a little boy lost his ball over the other side of the wall and climbed a tree to look over, where he found a little girl around his age playing with it. He asked her to play with him and she reluctantly agreed. They grew to be best friends and would slip little message between the cracks in the wall when they couldn't play. They fell in love and decided to tell their families in hope that it would end the feud, but instead the parents became enraged and sent the boy off to sea. He promised he would return for her as he set off. She sat at the base of the tree for years, crying everyday until a plant grew from her tears.

I can't remember what this plant is called and desperately need to find out the name of this story. SOON.
