The generic name for an infection is -itis: hepatitis, colitis, cystitis etc. If by gland you mean LYMPH  gland the patient has to be seen by a doctor as this could be a symptom for an innocent condition such as mononucleosis to not so innocent conditions such as lymphadenopathy or Hodgkins disease.
