What is the name for mushroom which grows in water and the water is consumed by many people.?

The mushroom is flat and leathery, white to cream to yellowish in colour. Shape is more like a chapati and even a piece of it grows in to the circular shape within a week. It divides and a new piece whic is formed over the older one can be removed and multiplied by keeping it in water. Apparantly it grows without any food.

Oh that is a chinese mushroom as I recall.  There are several recipe's for them on the net.  I'm not sure they are as healthy as they are reported to be.

They were supposed to be quite healthy, but then some deaths were [reportedly] associated with them and people stopped growing them.
