  1. Rome uses the same money as the rest of Italy, which uses the Euro which is used by all the the European Union members (except England).

  3. Italy currently uses the Euro, but in the recent past, the Italians used the Lira. Before that, I'm not sure. The Euro has more value than the American dollar, though, so if you live anywhere outside of the European Union that has adopted the Euro (or Britain) then you need to watch the exchange rate closely if you plan to spend any money there.
