  1. The main area is always informally referred to by people as 'The City'.

Eg: I'm going to the City today.

However, on the news (formal), it is referred to as "Sydney's CBD" or just "The CBD".

There are shops everywhere - not just in the City. The places around/outside the City are called "suburbs" which are divided into different regions such as the Inner West, South West, North Shore, St George etc.

Hope this has answered your question.

  2. We like to call it "The City"

  3. Postcode 2000 would normally be the centre of Sydney, and that postcode covers the following areas:

Dawes Point :: Haymarket :: Millers Point :: Sydney :: The Rocks
