What is the name of kosher rennet that i read in USA yogurts?

Kosher rennet this name is some kind of animal substance. i know rennet is. Does vegan and vegetarian can eat?

Agar agar is a thickening agent similar to gelatin, and may be used as a kosher gelatin.  It is made from seaweed and is vegetarian friendly.  But if it is not specifically labled  as agar agar, then it can contain animal gelatin.   This geletin is so thoroughly processed that it is no longer considered "meat" by kosherat  law, but may not be free of animal byproducts.


  2. It's not vegetarian.  Most yogurts do not have animal rennet though, they have gelatin which is also not vegetarian.  Stoneybrook farms is ok for a vegetarian.

  3. I think you're thinking of kosher gelatin, which is a common ingredient in yogurts.  It's gelatin made from fish bones instead of the usual pig-based gelatin.  Vegetarians and vegans do not eat any type of gelatin.
