  1. download gpu-z , it will tell you what kind of video card you have.

you can't install new video cards into notebooks. on desktop pc's.

thats your video card. it's an integrated video card and shares ram. it's an extremely bad video card. you must have bought less expensive model. i'd be suprised if you could play counterstrike source.

you need video cards like the 8600m gt 9500m gs 8700m gt in order to play games. and those go for around $1500 for the laptops. and even than you won't be maxxing the graphics out on the game.

your only choice is to live with it, or return it, and buy a laptop with a great video card.

  2. Well, graphics cards cannot be upgraded so there's nothing you can do.

If you want higher graphics, you'll have to sell this one and buy a new one that actually says '256 dedicated graphics.' That would play most games available 2day.

  3. Your Laptop is equipped, not with a Graphics Card, but a Graphics Chipset. It is a standard VGA Graphics Chip designed for low end computers as a Graphics Card would either be too much for the system, or simply isn't compatible.

There is no need to panic. Your PC isn't lying to you.

Instead of a Graphics Card, you refer to it as a Standard VGA Adapter.
